Bell Vedera Resorts, Chengulam, Munnar – A Perfect Stay

Bell Vedera Resorts Chengulam Munnar

During the Christmas 2021 holidays, I along with my family visited Munnar, a beautiful hill station in Kerala, India. While searching for good accommodation, we came across Bella Vista resorts in Anachal, Munnar. But all the rooms were already booked. So they suggested another property Bell Vedera, near Chengulam / Sengulam dam, Anachal, Munnar, which also belonged to them.

After speaking to the property manager Bennex, we booked a deluxe double room with a private balcony. It cost around ₹3300 per day and ₹750 was charged for an extra bed.

For the first time, I drove my Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 from Thiruvananthapuram to Munnar. We chose a route via Ettumanur – Muvattupuzha – Kothamangalam – Adimali. The route had many sharp curves, but the road was in good condition. After Neriyamangalam, the topography changed and we went through scenic regions.

Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls

Both Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls lie between Neriyamangalam and Adimali and we can click some beautiful snaps on the location. We cannot go near the waterfalls as it is restricted.

En route to Adimali, we must take a deviation to Anachal and then to the Chengulam dam. After crossing the dam, the Bell Vedera resort’s name board appears on the right side. We just need to climb a hilly road and reach the resort.

Bell Vedera Resorts

When you reach the entrance you will really like the ambience as there is greenery all around. There is ample parking facility for cars and even vans. There is a spice garden around the resort and we were informed that some of the spices were used in their cuisine.

Rooms

There are around 15 rooms in Bell Vedera Resorts. You can book the rooms online or via phone.

The view from our private balcony was really stunning as it was facing the Chengulam dam and the distant mountains and resorts. The room was spacious and had a mini-fridge and television. It had a spacious rest room with 24hr hot water availability.

Restaurant

Above the reception block, there is a restaurant. If we give orders in advance, they will prepare the food, based on the menu. Certain room plans include complementary breakfast. Some of the items we had were Chapathi, Kerala Parotta, Fried rice, Appam, Poori, Bread, Paneer Butter Masala, Gobi Manchurian, Chilli Gobi, Coffee, Black Coffee and Tea.

Staff

The staff were really helpful and friendly. I would thank Stenin and Nikhil for the services they rendered.

Other Facilities

On request, they arrange campfire and DJ music also. Special buffet food will also be arranged for groups. Cabs or Jeeps for sightseeing will also be arranged on request.

Nearby Attractions

Chengulam dam is within a walkable distance. Boating facilities are available here. The current tariff for the speedboat (4 persons) were ₹1000 and the motorboat was ₹1900 (20 persons). If we do not want to do boating, we can take an entry ticket and spend some time on the premises. The dam with the dense greenery around offers a visual treat for a nature lover. Also, this dam is less crowded compared to the main tourist attractions in Munnar.

There is a private jeep safari by Wild Eye Adventures (Saji +91 7025961051), which can be booked near the entrance of the Chengulam dam. I will put a separate blog and video on the Jeep safari soon.

Conclusion

If you want to spend a good time with your family, friends and look for affordable hotels/resorts away from the crowded Munnar town, then this is a perfect one. The ambience is really great. The temperature drops by the evening and the nights are really cool. The Chengulam dam view and the mist-clad mountains add to the charm of the holidays.
